Ayushman Bharat Card Drive Organized for Elderly Residents at Abhyudaya Old Age Home

The National Helpline for Senior Citizens (NHSC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, organized an Ayushman Bharat Card drive at Abhyudaya Old Age Home, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman on 24th January 2025. The initiative aimed to facilitate the e-card generation process for elderly residents, ensuring their access to quality healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

During the camp, the NHSC team, with the support of the Directorate of Health Services, successfully generated Ayushman Bharat e-cards for over 70 elderly men residing at the old age home. The beneficiaries, aged 70 and above, received their health cards, enabling them to avail free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakhs under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana scheme. The elderly residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the NHSC team and the Directorate of Health Services for their efforts in bringing this crucial healthcare initiative to their doorstep.

Following the camp, Ms. Sushma Pandey, Project Manager, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of the National Helpline for Senior Citizens (14567), highlighting its role in assisting the elderly. Ms. Sheela Kar, Mukhya Sevika and in-charge of Abhyudaya Complex, provided an insightful overview of the inmates’ daily lives, health status, and the support system in place at the facility. She extended her appreciation to the NHSC team for their commitment to senior welfare and for ensuring access to essential healthcare services through the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to improving healthcare accessibility for senior citizens, reaffirming its commitment to providing financial and medical security to the elderly population.
