Bambooflat Police Busts Drug Operation, Arrests Three Peddlers

In a significant crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Police Station Bambooflat in South Andaman has successfully seized 150 grams of illicit ganja and apprehended three individuals involved in the operation.

Acting on a tip-off received on May 17, 2024, authorities were informed that a suspect named Harbaz Ali was in possession of ganja and planned to sell it near the Fish Market in Bambooflat. Upon receiving this intelligence, Inspector Rizwan Hassan, SHO of PS Bambooflat, assembled a team including SI Manoj Lal, HC Zubair, and PCs Shiva, Suresh Kumar, and Mubeena Banu. The team, accompanied by two independent witnesses, proceeded to the location.

Harbaz Ali was intercepted at the scene, and a search of his person revealed a plastic pouch containing 40 grams of ganja. The illicit substance was seized immediately, and Ali was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During interrogation, Ali disclosed that he had obtained the ganja from an individual named Abhinay, also known as Shan. Following this lead, the police raided Abhinay’s residence in Prothrapur. This operation led to the arrest of Abhinav Howlader and Ruban Raj, from whom 60 grams and 50 grams of ganja were recovered respectively. The seizures were made following all legal protocols.

In total, 150 grams of ganja were confiscated during the operation, which was carried out under the direct supervision of DySP Vinay Mathur, SDPO Bambooflat, and the overall supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP District South Andaman.
