In a move aimed at easing transportation for commuters, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has urged the UT Administration to arrange light-weight battery-operated vehicles between Chatham Jetty and PS Chatham Check-post, Haddo.

The initiative, proposed as a temporary solution until either a new bridge or a provisional bridge becomes operational, is expected to provide much-needed relief to the general public.

During discussions with the Chief Secretary, the Hon’ble MP was informed that the Administration has already initiated necessary steps to introduce the facility. Officials assured that the service will be launched shortly.

Once operational, the battery-operated vehicles will particularly benefit elderly citizens, patients, and others who require assistance, ensuring safer and more convenient mobility.

This measure is expected to ease long-standing difficulties faced by commuters and reflects the Administration’s commitment to addressing urgent transportation concerns in the region.
