Beach Games–2025 Kick Off at Corbyn’s Cove with Focus on Sports Promotion and Drug-Free Message

The Beach Games–2025 for Open Men and Women, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, A&N Administration, commenced on 19th December 2025,  at the Corbyn’s Cove beach arena. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, inaugurated the three-day event in the presence of senior officials, residents and visiting tourists.

Designed to encourage beach sports and spread the message of a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Beach Games also aim to boost mass participation of youth and promote sporting excellence in the Islands.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs for involving young participants in the initiative and urged more youth to take part in the multiple sporting disciplines being conducted by the Department.

Following the inauguration, the crowd witnessed a Mallakhamb demonstration, where participants showcased a series of acrobatic, yogic and wrestling-style poses performed on a vertical wooden pole, displaying impressive strength, balance and flexibility. This was followed by a Pencak Silat martial arts performance.

A friendly volleyball match between teams of the Administration and the Police Department drew enthusiastic response from spectators, while the Beach Kabaddi event also attracted a sizeable crowd. The Director (Education), Mr. Vikram Singh, presented prizes to the winners of the Pencak Silat competition.

The Beach Games–2025 will continue till December 21 and feature multiple sporting disciplines including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, 50m Sprint, 100m Sprint, 7-a-side Football, Beach Sepak Takraw, Beach Mallakhamb and Pencak Silat.
