Beach Sports Event Marks 10th Anniversary of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in Car Nicobar

On the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, a spirited Beach Sports event was organized at Kinyuka Beach, Car Nicobar, celebrating the empowerment of girls and women through sports.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout, with a range of sports fostering teamwork, community spirit, and inclusivity. Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar District, attended as the chief guest, while the Women’s Representative of Kinyuka village graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

The Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Car Nicobar welcomed the gathering and underscored the significance of the BBBP initiative in empowering girls over the past decade.

The celebrations featured an exciting mix of traditional and modern sports, including Kuhiol Kuk (Coconut Scraping), Women’s Tug of War, and Beach Volleyball. The event was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner, whose presence further motivated the participants and spectators.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated all participants and commended the organizers for providing a platform where women could showcase their athletic skills. He emphasized the role of sports in promoting gender equality and empowerment.
