Bengaluru Couple Suicide at Port Blair: Couple Blamed Policeman and Advocate from Bengaluru in Suicide Note

On 3rd March 2023, a couple from Bengaluru was found dead at Hornbill Nest Resort in Port Blair. The couple stayed in the resort since 21st February 2023 and were due to check out on 3rd March 2023.

According to sources, a suicide note was recovered from the hotel room by the Forensic Science Laboratory staff. The suicide note revealed the name of a Bengaluru-based policeman and an advocate as the reason for the suicide of the couple.

According to the suicide note, the couple was reportedly falsely booked under a criminal case under Section 370 of IPC. 

The suicide note also mentioned that the couple was in jail for 33 days, whereas bail usually takes 10-15 days. The note mentions that it usually costs Rs. 60,000/- for bail & surety for two persons, but they were charged Rs. 1,80,000/-.

The policeman reportedly took Rs. 50,000/- as a bribe from them to open one of their seized bank accounts and to hand over one phone. They mentioned that they had to face a lot of harassment. 

The couple mentioned in the suicide note that they lost their reputation, social life and everything, and they have decided to finish their life. The couple also mentioned that they want justice.

The suicide note mentioned they were alone and no one will claim their body. The suicide note also said, ’if any organs can be donated, please do the needful. 

A case has been registered against a Bengaluru-based policeman and an advocate based on the suicide note.
