A woman from Bengaluru has filed a police complaint against a UK national, alleging sexual assault at a resort in Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island). The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of February 26, 2025, during her vacation in the Andaman Islands.
According to the FIR registered at Swaraj Dweep Police Station, the 30-year-old woman had traveled to the islands with a friend and had been socializing with fellow travellers, including the accused, who was training to be a diver. On the night of the alleged incident, the complainant and her friends gathered at the accused’s resort after dinner. She suspects that her drink was spiked, leading to a loss of consciousness. When she regained awareness, she found herself in a vulnerable state and alleged that the UK national had sexually assaulted her.
Shocked and distressed, the woman struggled to process the incident. She later confided in her friend and decided to return home to discuss the matter with her family before formally approaching the police. The complaint mentions that the traumatic experience left her in a state of shock, amnesia, and emotional distress.
After gathering the courage to come forward, she registered a Zero FIR which was transferred to PS Swaraj Dweep, and the police have begun an investigation. Legal proceedings are expected to follow as per due process.
