The Bhojpuri Samaj of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands celebrated its Raising Day with fervour and enthusiasm at the TGCE auditorium, where esteemed dignitaries and community members gathered for a memorable event.
The Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The festivities commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by Chief Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra, in the presence of the guest of honor, the Director General of Police, Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS. Also in attendance was Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh of ZPSA.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra extended warm greetings to the Bhojpuri Samaj on their Raising Day and commended the vibrant cultural performances showcased by children and women. He applauded the Bhojpuri Samaj’s dedicated efforts to preserve and promote their cultural heritage and called for creating awareness about it among the younger generation. Mr. Keshav Chandra expressed hope that the Bhojpuri Samaj would continue to contribute significantly to the development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
During the event, Chief Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra and DGP Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva jointly presented mementoes and medals to meritorious students of Class X and XII, recognising their outstanding achievements.
In his address, DGP Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva extended his heartfelt greetings to the Bhojpuri Samaj on their foundation day. He emphasised the pivotal role played by both the older and younger generations of the Bhojpuri Samaj in the development of the Islands. Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva described the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as ‘Mini India,’ where people from diverse states coexist in perfect peace and harmony.
The General Secretary of the Bhojpuri Samaj, Mr. DP Tiwari, presented a concise overview of the organisation’s activities aimed at the betterment of society. The cultural program featured captivating songs and folk dances performed by children and women, eliciting enthusiastic applause from the audience. Mr. Jagdish Narayan Rai and Ayush Kumar Dubey also captivated the audience with their self-composed poems.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. R P Yadav, President of A&NIBS, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Office Secretary of BS, Mr. BP Mishra.
The celebration of Bhojpuri Samaj’s Raising Day served as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the commitment of its residents to preserving their heritage while fostering unity and development.
