Newly elected Member of Parliament from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lok Sabha Constituency, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, made an official visit to Raj Niwas today to meet Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency.
Mr. Ray’s election marks his fourth term representing the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in Parliament. His victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw him defeating the former Member of Parliament, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma of the Indian National Congress.
The meeting between Mr. Ray and Admiral Joshi is seen as a significant step towards the collaborative efforts needed for the development of the islands. As the newly elected MP, Mr. Ray’s agenda includes addressing key issues and fostering development in the region.
Notably, Mr. Ray did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as he was not given a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, his return to the political forefront in 2024 has been marked by a decisive win, reaffirming his strong foothold in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ political landscape.
The discussions held at Raj Niwas are expected to pave the way for new initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing the living standards and infrastructure of the islands, aligning with the developmental vision shared by both the elected MP and the administration.
