There is great turmoil within the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The election process for the new State President of the Party for the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is currently underway, and there is stiff competition for the post of the State President.

Recently, Mr. Raghunath Kulkarni, Prabhari, BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, arrived in the Islands and conducted one-on-one meetings with party leaders at Hotel S R Castle on Saturday, 18th January 2025 as part of the election process.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the former Governor of Telangana and former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, has been appointed as the Election Officer for the election of the State President of BJP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

This high-profile appointment underscores the BJP central leadership’s commitment to the State President elections.

The election of the State President for the BJP in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is seen as crucial, given the central government’s strategic focus on the region. Several key projects, important not just for the Islands but for the country as a whole, are planned.

Nicobar Times spoke to Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan over phone today, who informed us that she would soon arrive in the Islands in connection with the BJP State President elections. She also mentioned that the entire election process must be completed before 25th January 2025.

Following revelations by Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, it is now clear that the BJP Andaman and Nicobar Islands will get its next State President before 25th January 2025.

As of now, two prominent names from BJP Andaman and Nicobar Islands are being floated in political circles as potential candidates for the next State President. It will be very interesting to see who gets to lead the party.

As there is no legislature in the Union Territory, the role of the BJP State President holds substantial significance. The BJP, as the largest party in the National Democratic Alliance government, relies on its State President to serve as a vital link between the people of the Islands and the national leadership. This ensures that the aspirations of the Islanders are communicated effectively to the party, and the party’s vision for development is clearly conveyed to the people.

The central leadership’s decision to appoint a figure of Dr. Soundararajan’s stature reflects its seriousness about the election process in the Islands, particularly in light of the region’s strategic importance in the nation’s development plans.
