BJP Andaman & Nicobar Islands Calls for Compensation for Victims of Mayabunder STS Bus Accident

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has urged the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to provide immediate financial assistance to the victims of the tragic STS bus accident in Mayabunder on 15 November 2024. The accident, which resulted in the loss of four lives and left over 18 injured, has sent shockwaves through the region. Many of the injured victims are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving medical treatment.

In a letter to the Lt. Governor, State BJP President Mr. Ajoy Bairagi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and highlighted the financial and emotional hardships faced by the victims’ families. He called for urgent relief measures to support those affected by the tragedy.

The BJP has requested the following actions:

– An ex-gratia compensation of â‚ą5 lakhs for the families of the deceased.

– Financial aid of â‚ą1 lakh for the injured victims to cover medical and rehabilitation costs.

Mr. Bairagi emphasised that these measures would not only alleviate the suffering of the affected families but also reinforce public trust in the administration’s commitment to their welfare during times of crisis.

“The affected families are facing immense grief and financial strain, and we hope the administration will respond swiftly with the necessary support,” said Mr. Bairagi.
