In a strategic political development ahead of the Election for Fourth Year Term of Chairperson of Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has decided to support the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate. The decision was taken following a recent meeting involving BJP councillors and key party leaders.
The alliance, rooted in their shared membership in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and common goals of development and governance, marks a collaborative approach by the two parties to secure a majority in the upcoming civic body polls.
BJP councillors have pledged their support for the TDP nominee with the intention of forming a council and committees that will focus on progress and effective administration. The party leadership has formally approved the move, signalling unified backing for the alliance.
M. Vinod, State Vice President and Media Convenor of BJP, A&N Islands, stated that the collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to the development of the region.
Nicobar Times spoke to TDP Andaman and Nicobar Islands sources who informed us that their candidate for the fourth-year term of Chairperson of Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council would be Mr. S Shahul Hameed.
