BJP Leader K Durai Passes Away in Kamorta, Police Urges Relatives to Come Forward to Claim Body

Mr. K. Durai, 48, a long-time resident of Kamorta Island in the Nicobar district, passed away during treatment at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Nancowrie on Thursday (12th September 2024). Mr. Durai, a tailor by profession, had been residing alone on the island for the last 30 years and also served as the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Nicobar district.

He was admitted to CHC Nancowrie on September 11, 2024, and succumbed to his illness a day later. Durai, whose father was the late Krishnan, did not have any known family or relatives on the island, and so far, no relative has come forward to claim his body.

At present, Mr. Durai’s body is being kept in the cold mortuary room at CHC Nancowrie. Authorities have made an appeal to any family members or relatives of the deceased to come forward and claim his body.
