Bharatiya Janata Party has been eyeing on winning the elections for the post of Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh in Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman. BJP recently registered big wins in PBMC and Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
BJP seems to have worked out its numbers for winning the Elections for Adhyaksh & Up-Adhyaksh of Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman.
Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman originally had 09 Congress Members, 06 BJP Members, and 02 Independent Members.
Current Adhyaksha and Up-Adhyaksh are from Congress, but it seems that BJP will secure a win in the next election for Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh scheduled to be held on 31st of March 2023.
Mrs. Basanti Devi, Zilla Parishad Member, Pahalgaon/Chainpur, resigned from Congress on 25th March 2023, and joined Bharatiya Janata Party.
Both the Independent Zilla Parishad Members have also joined Bharatiya Janata Party. Mr. Subrata Basu, ZP Member, Kadamtala, joined BJP just this morning, while Mr. Keshab Kabiraj, ZP Member, Bakultala, had joined BJP earlier.
With Mrs. Basanti Devi and both Independent Zilla Parishad Members on BJP’s side, the party is on a clear path to victory in Zilla Parishad North and Middle Andaman.
It is highly unlikely that Congress will be able to rally the required votes to secure a win for their Adhyaksh and Up-Adhyaksh candidates.
It will be a major setback for Congress if it loses the elections of Adhyaksh & Up-Adhyaksh in ZP N & M Andaman.
Grapevine has it that more Zilla Parishad Members of Congress from N & M Andaman are also on the verge of joining the BJP.
