Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Ajoy Bairagi has called for urgent action from local authorities following devastating flash floods in Diglipur caused by heavy rainfall.
In response to the crisis, Mr. Bairagi has actively engaged with key officials, including the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, and the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur. He emphasized the critical need for prompt evacuation and provision of adequate shelter for affected residents, as many villages in and around Diglipur are fully submerged, leaving villagers in severe distress.
Mr. Bairagi also urged the officials to conduct thorough surveys of the damage inflicted on agricultural crops, livestock, and property. He stressed the importance of compensating the affected villagers to help them recover from their losses.
In response, the officials assured Mr. Bairagi that necessary steps would be taken immediately to address the situation and provide the required relief and support to the flood victims.
