In a bid to rally support, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the three-time former Member of Parliament and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Lok Sabha Candidate, made a significant visit to Great Nicobar on April 9, 2024. Accompanied by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President of BJP and Former Adhyaksh of ZP South Andaman, Mr. Ray’s presence sparked enthusiasm among the local BJP cadre upon his arrival at INS Baaz Airport.
Embracing the warmth of the reception, Mr. Ray wasted no time and immediately embarked on his campaign trail across the island. His itinerary included visits to various areas within the Campbell Bay Panchayat, as well as extensive campaigning in Joginder Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Shastri Nagar of Laxmi Nagar Panchayat.
Venturing further, Mr. Ray made it a point to connect with the Nicobarese Tribal members, engaging with them in their habitats. He also visited villages under the Govind Nagar Gram Panchayat.
The pinnacle of his visit was marked by a public meeting organised by the BJP, drawing a crowd that comprised not only locals but also prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Among the distinguished figures present were Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Mr. E S Rajesh, Mr. N Kiran, Mr. K C Murugan, Mr. Venkat Rao, Mr. Prahlad Singh, and many others.
During the spirited gathering, Mr. Ray addressed the public, promising to champion the developmental challenges facing Great Nicobar and to address the common concerns of the Islanders, should he be elected as their Member of Parliament.
Having concluded his visit, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray bid farewell to Great Nicobar Island this morning (April 10, 2024), as he set his course back to Port Blair.
