Block Development Office Ferrargunj Hosts Training to Promote Child Participation in Gram Sabha Decision-Making

A Block Level Training on ‘Promoting Child Participation in the Decision-Making Process of Gram Sabha’ was organized by the Block Development Office, Ferrargunj, under the guidance of the Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and Urban Local Bodies (RD, PRIs & ULBs) of the A&N Administration. The initiative, conducted under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), aimed to empower children by integrating their voices into grassroots governance.

The training highlighted the significance of including children in Gram Sabha discussions to foster inclusivity and ensure equitable representation in community decisions. Participants were equipped with strategies to encourage and support child participation, thereby strengthening democratic values at the local level.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand Amritraj, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Tushnabad, underscored the pivotal role of Gram Panchayats in nurturing child involvement in governance. He urged local leaders to actively engage with children during Gram Sabha meetings, recognising them as key stakeholders in community development.

The event also featured insightful sessions by Ms. C. Vijaya, a domain expert from the Department of Rural Development, and Mr. Tapas Sarnakar, Office Superintendent of the Social Welfare Department, who shared their expertise on fostering child participation in decision-making processes.

This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to empowering future generations by providing them with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to community development.
