Block-Level Inclusive Sports Meet for Children with Special Needs Held at Little Andaman

The Block Project Office (Samagra Shiksha), Little Andaman, organized the first-ever Block Level Inclusive Sports Meet for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) for the academic year 2025–26 on November 3 and 4 at the PM SHRI GMSSS playground, Little Andaman.

The two-day event, held under the banner of Samagra Shiksha in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Council of India and the Fit India Movement, aimed to foster inclusivity and provide children with special needs an opportunity to showcase their sporting talents. The meet carried the inspiring theme “Know me for my abilities, not my disability.”

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Prabhash Roy, Zonal Officer-cum-Block Project Officer, Little Andaman, who encouraged participants to take part with confidence and enthusiasm. Declaring the meet open at 10 a.m., he emphasized the importance of creating inclusive spaces where every child can thrive.

The inaugural function was graced by Mr. Andrew Moses, First Captain, Tribal Council Harminder Bay; Mr. Festus Nathaniel, Secretary, Tribal Council Harminder Bay; and Mr. K. Rudra Murthy, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Hut Bay, as Guests of Honour.

The closing ceremony, held on November 4, was presided over by Mr. Balaram Roy, Assistant Engineer-II, MID, A.P.W.D., Little Andaman, who declared the meet closed at 1 p.m. Mr. Bidyut Roy, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Netaji Nagar, attended the event as Guest of Honour.

The inclusive sports meet concluded on a high note with cheers, appreciation, and joy all around as participants, teachers, and organizers celebrated the success of the initiative. The event stood as a testament to the growing emphasis on inclusive education and equal opportunities for all children.
