Block Level Sports Meet 2025–26 of Prothrapur Block Concludes Successfully

The Block Level Sports Meet 2025–26 of Prothrapur Block, organised by MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from youth across the block. The sporting events were held from December 27 to 28, 2025, followed by a prize distribution ceremony on December 30, 2025, at the Andaman Mahila Mandal premises near the Fire Brigade Headquarters, Supply Line, Sri Vijaya Puram.

The winners were felicitated with awards, certificates and gold medals in accordance with MY Bharat norms, recognising their performance and sportsmanship. The meet featured group events including a Volleyball Tournament for men and Tug of War for women. Individual events such as the 100 metres run and Table Tennis Singles were conducted separately for men and women. Participants showcased discipline, energy and team spirit, creating an encouraging and competitive sporting environment.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. P. V. N. Sarma, Principal, Andaman Law College, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the role of sports in building character, confidence and leadership qualities among youth. Swami Suddhanand Saraswati, President, Chinmaya Mission, attended as Guest of Honour and motivated participants by emphasising that participation itself is a victory that instils learning and determination.

Special Guest Dr. R. G. S. Bhaghal, Associate Professor of Geography, JNRM, spoke on the importance of stamina, consistency and mental focus in achieving success. Guest Speaker Mr. Akash Prakash Khule, AGM, BENL, underlined the role of sports in fostering positive thinking, mental resilience and coping with stress. Mr. Sukha Ranjan Biswas, Joint Director, MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, highlighted MY Bharat’s mission of youth empowerment through constructive initiatives such as sports.

The event was also attended by Mr. Gorakhnath Patil, President, Maharashtra Mandal, and Mrs. Kamalini S. Ware. The programme was organised by MY Bharat, Sri Vijaya Puram, in association with Andaman Mahila Mandal. A new Table Tennis board was provided for the tournament, with Dr. Sunita Patil, Secretary, Andaman Mahila Mandal, and her team extending full support.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gopal Ch. Biswas of MY Bharat, who also proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of dignitaries, participants, volunteers and partner organisations. The sports meet reaffirmed the spirit of youth engagement, sportsmanship and unity in the Prothrapur Block.
