A day-long Block Level Training Programme under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) was held recently at the Rabindra Nagar Gram Panchayat Hall, aiming to build stronger and more effective grassroots governance in the region.

A total of 61 elected representatives, including Pradhans and Ward Members, participated in the capacity-building programme themed “Strengthening Local Governance: Training Elected Representatives on the Principle and Objective of PRIs.”

The session began with a welcome address by Mr. Vishal Mandal, Extension Officer. Mr. CH. Kiran Kumar, Domain Expert (IT), served as the resource person and guided participants through key aspects of Panchayati Raj administration, governance responsibilities, and effective community leadership.

The initiative forms part of an ongoing effort to enhance administrative efficiency, promote decentralised decision-making, and empower Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives to serve their constituencies more effectively in Little Andaman.

Officials stated that similar training programmes will continue to support elected representatives in improving planning, implementation, and governance outcomes at the grassroots level.
