Boat Carrying 60+ Rohingya Refugees from Bangladesh Lands at Malacca Jetty in Car Nicobar

More than 60+ Rohingya Refugees from Bangladesh landed this morning at Malacca Jetty in Car Nicobar. The refugees reportedly berthed their boat at the un-operational Malacca Jetty this morning.

Men, women, children, and even infants are onboard the boat.

The health condition of those onboard is still not known. Police reached Malacca Jetty immediately after receiving the information.

The general public is being kept away from the jetty.

The Rohingya people are a stateless Indo-Aryan ethnic group who predominantly follow Islam and reside in Rakhine StateMyanmar (previously known as Burma). Before the Rohingya genocide in 2017, when over 740,000 fled to Bangladesh, an estimated 1.4 million Rohingya lived in Myanmar.

  1. They should not be in A&N Islands. Because the government can’t fulfill the land requirements for the Islanders than how can rohinga people stay here. They can adjusted in Bangladesh because they were already Bangladeshi Muslim in earlier. They should go to Bangladesh.
