J Vignesh a Prepaid Mobile customer of BSNL filed a case against BSNL, Andaman and Nicobar Islands at the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, A & N Islands, Port Blair for a compensation of Rs. 50,000/- for misguiding and misbehaviour by BSNL.
Vignesh a resident of Bambooflat, South Andaman recharged his mobile number after he received a SMS from BSNL promoting the recharge of Rs. 1,699/- and the benefits stated in the SMS included Unlimited Voice Calls, 100 SMS per day and 750 MB data per day. Vignesh then noticed that he is only getting 250 Minutes free Voice Calls per day instead of Unlimited Voice Calls. Vignesh approached the authorities of BSNL and also met the Chief General Manager with his complaint. He also approached the marketing section of BSNL where the staff misbehaved with him and used unparliamentary language.
BSNL in the court had argued that the recharge of Rs. 1,699 had terms and conditions to it, but the court noticed that the terms and conditions were not attached.
Vignesh ultimately filed a case with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, A & N Islands, Port Blair on 30th of October 2019.
The judgement on his case was given on 22nd of February 2021 and the judgement mentioned that BSNL is liable to pay J Vignesh Rs. 5000/- for the unfair trade practice and deficiency in service and as compensation for the mental agony, harassment, expenses by the complainant as well as the cost of the case.
Even I am facing one such issue. I have been registering complaints with the BSNL authorities regarding slow broadband speed (speed not going above 3 Mbps) but to no use. There is no updates and no one takes care of this..
