Government Primary School, Campbell Bay was established in the year 1969. The 53-year-old school is now waiting for proper attention from the authorities. A large portion of the building is in a dilapidated state and is currently not being used due to the threat of the structure collapsing. The part of the building currently being used is also in a bad condition.

Eight classrooms in addition to a Smart Classroom are required for the proper functioning of the school, but the school is currently operating with only six classrooms. Although the School Building has ample number of rooms, but most of the rooms are unusable as the old wooden structure has dilapidated over time.

In addition to Classrooms, rooms are also required for the library and other facilities.

Mr. U Sitaram, President, School Management Committee, Govt. Primary School, Campbell Bay informed Nicobar Times that the dilapidated building has become a threat to the students and demanded that a new school building needs to be constructed immediately for the welfare of the students.

The SMC Presidents also informed that equipment for Smart Classroom has been provided to the school, but there is no space to install the equipment.

Nicobar Times also verified the claims of the members of the SMC and found it to be true.
