The GST Department of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands has flagged widespread non-compliance among business establishments following the recent rate revisions under the GST 2.0 regime. Despite adequate time provided for transition, officials said many units across the Union Territory have yet to align with the updated GST rates, regulations, and exemptions.
As part of its enforcement efforts, inspection teams have carried out random checks on 68 business units in Sri Vijaya Puram since 22nd September 2025. Several violations were detected during these inspections, resulting in on-the-spot penalties. A total of Rs. 3.33 lakh has been recovered from establishments found violating GST norms.
The Department stated that the enforcement drive will continue in the coming days to ensure effective implementation of the revised GST provisions and to safeguard consumer benefits under the new regime.
All business establishments have been reminded that adherence to GST rules is mandatory, and any deviation will attract penalties as prescribed under GST law.
Residents and business owners may report violations or seek clarification on GST rates and implementation through the Department’s WhatsApp helpline at 9595359698.
