The GST Department of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has been conducting strict enforcement action following the implementation of revised tax rates under GST 2.0. According to the department, several business establishments have still not aligned with the updated GST rates, exemptions and regulatory requirements despite being given sufficient transition time.

Under the direction of the Commissioner, UTGST, multiple inspection teams have been carrying out surprise checks across business outlets in Sri Vijaya Puram since 22 September 2025. Officials confirmed that penalties have been imposed on the spot wherever violations were detected.

As part of the ongoing enforcement drive, the Department has collected ₹3.93 lakh in penalties from businesses found non-compliant with the updated GST norms. Officials have stated that the inspections will continue to ensure full implementation of GST 2.0 reforms and to make sure consumers receive the benefit of revised taxation.

The Department has cautioned that strict adherence to notified rules is mandatory and any further violations will result in penalties as per GST law.

Business owners or residents seeking clarification on GST rates or wishing to report non-compliance may contact the department on WhatsApp at 9595359698.
