In a heartwarming celebration, the Southernmost Police Station of the country, PS Campbell Bay, played host to “Deepawali Milan Aur Deepotsav” on 11th November 2023, extending the spirit of Deepawali to the residents of Great Nicobar, PRI members, and local officials.

For police personnel stationed in remote regions far from their homes, festive occasions like Diwali often mean missing celebrations with their families. Despite being on duty, these dedicated individuals ensure that society can joyfully observe the festivities.

The entire police family of the Campbell Bay Sub-Division came together to organise Deepawali Milan Aur Deepotsav, creating an opportunity to celebrate the festival with their extended family—the general public of Great Nicobar.

Sharing their experiences during the festival, police personnel became visibly emotional as residents, PRI members, and officials joined them in the Diwali celebrations. Together, they lit up diyas in the premises of PS Campbell Bay, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness.

Mr. Firoz Alam, SDPO, Campbell Bay, took the lead in organising the Deepawali Milan Aur Deepotsav along with the Station House Officer of PS Campbell Bay, Mr. Deepak Mukherjee. The initiative garnered widespread support, with notable figures from Great Nicobar present during the celebration. Among them were Mr. Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner, Great Nicobar; Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh (Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay); Mr. Barnabas, CTC, Campbell Bay; Mr. Sanjay Ekka, Up-Pramukh (Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay); Mr. G Venkat Rao, Pradhan, Govind Nagar Panchayat, Campbell Bay; Ms. Leelawati, ZP Member (Laxmi Nagar); Mr. Gagandeep Singh Grewal, Ex-Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman and Mr. K C Murugan, Mandal President, BJP, Campbell Bay.
