Canara Bank, Campbell Bay Branch Closed Down Due to Non-Payment of Rent

Canara Bank, Campbell Bay Branch has been shut down by its Manager due to non-payment of rent to the building owner. The Canara Bank, Campbell Bay Branch is located near Zero Point and operates from a rented premises. 

Canara Bank, Campbell Bay Branch is the only Nationalised Bank Branch in whole of Great Nicobar Island and serves the entire population of the sub district. Every day hundreds of customers depend on the branch for their banking needs.

The bank has been in news for all wrong reasons recently. The general public of Campbell Bay were troubled because the bank branch had capped the withdrawal limits due to a cash crunch.

The Manager of the Branch while speaking to Nicobar Times informed us that he will keep the bank shut until and unless the rent issue is resolved.

The owner of the building where the Bank Branch is situated has informed Nicobar Times that he has nothing to do with the closure of the bank. He further added that the Manager of the Bank has taken the decision of closing the bank branch voluntarily.

The general public of Great Nicobar will face a lot of inconvenience if the issue if not resolved immediately.

  1. This manager has also playing with the privacy of its customers. I have seen many of Account books kept open in the rack at entrance for no reason. When asked why the customers privacy is compromised the manager said there is nothing happens for these poor customer. I have pictures too of these Account books.
