In a significant move to combat the illicit trade of ganja, the Police Station (PS) Diglipur has achieved a major breakthrough by apprehending a suspect involved in cultivating cannabis plants in the area.
Acting on credible intelligence, authorities targeted an individual identified as Mithun Halder, who was suspected of cultivating cannabis plants (Ganja plants) in his residence at V.S. Pally, Diglipur. A raiding team, led by Inspector K. Binoj, the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Diglipur, accompanied by a team of officers including Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakil and Police Constables Abubacker Siddique, Sudhir Toppo, Debsai Toppo, Trilochini Kumari, and Mritunjay Das, conducted a thorough search outside Halder’s residence. With the assistance of two independent witnesses, the team successfully unearthed and seized five cannabis plants, measuring approximately 2.1 meters, with a total weight of 1.570 kilograms.
Following the seizure, Mithun Halder, aged 34 and son of Late Nalini Halder, residing in Ward No. 2 of V.S. Pally, Diglipur, was promptly arrested. A case has been registered against Halder under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at PS Diglipur.
The operation, spearheaded by Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DANIPS) of Diglipur, received overall guidance and supervision from Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer serving as the Superintendent of Police for the North & Middle Andaman District.
