In an exhilarating showdown at the Netaji Stadium, Car Nicobar Zone emerged victorious in the 5th State Level Knockout Football Tournament for U-17 Boys organised by the Directorate of Education. They defeated the formidable Mayabunder Zone by a commanding scoreline of 3-0, clinching the championship title.
Kr. Laxnuel of Car Nicobar Zone was the hero of the day, as he single-handedly propelled his team to victory by scoring all three goals. His remarkable performance saw the first goal finding the back of the net in the 4th minute of the match, followed by a second goal in the 13th minute. The final blow came in the 57th minute, securing Car Nicobar’s dominance on the field.
The tournament’s chief guest, Mr. G.S. Dubey, HoO, Directorate of Education, applauded the tenacity and sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams, despite challenging weather conditions. He also extended his appreciation to the organisers, Physical Education Teachers, and support staff for their relentless dedication in ensuring the event’s grand success.
Mr. Dubey further announced that the best players from the tournament would be selected to represent the state in the upcoming 67th SGFI National School Football Championship for U-17 years (Boys), a prestigious event on the national stage.
The tournament’s closure was marked by a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. M.V. Jolly, DDE (Acad./Perl.), Directorate of Education. To recognise and honour the exceptional talents on display, Mr. G.S. Dubey, along with esteemed guests including Ms. Sangeeta Chand, DEO Wimberlygunj, Mr. M. Nehru, DDE (Science.), and Ms. M.V. Jolly, DDE (Acad./Perl.), Directorate of Education, presented trophies and certificates to the winners, runners-up, and the second runner-up teams.
