The three-day Carnic Festival 2025 concluded on a vibrant and celebratory note at Edward Kutchat Park, Perka, Car Nicobar on 28th November 2025. Held from November 26 to 28, the festival drew enthusiastic participation from the public and successfully showcased the cultural diversity, heritage, and unity of the Nicobarese community.
The festival commenced in the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, along with Guest of Honour, Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, Superintendent of Police, and Mr. Lionald Nicomede, Chairman, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar. The dignitaries visited various stalls and interacted with exhibitors and performers, appreciating their creativity and efforts.
A series of cultural competitions remained the highlight of the event, featuring traditional and contemporary music performances, energetic dances, and the much-awaited Folk and Group Dance contests. Participants across different age groups displayed remarkable talent, bringing colour and cultural vibrancy to the festival arena.
The exhibition segment also attracted significant public interest, with several Government Departments setting up informative and creative stalls. Based on criteria including presentation, public engagement, creativity, and relevance, the Veterinary Department, Car Nicobar secured the first position. The ICDS (TP) Department, Car Nicobar claimed the second place, followed by the Industries Department, Car Nicobar, which stood third.
During the closing ceremony, trophies, certificates, and cash prizes were awarded to the winners of cultural and exhibition competitions. Addressing the gathering, dignitaries congratulated the winners and commended all participants for their contribution toward safeguarding and celebrating local identity, art forms, and cultural heritage.
The Carnic Festival 2025 concluded with an overwhelming sense of pride and community spirit, reinforcing cultural bonds while providing a platform for talent recognition, community engagement, and cultural exchange.
