The CD Block of Little Andaman organised a Block Level Training Program on “Strategies for Creating a Comprehensive Block Panchayat Development Plan” at the Panchayat Samiti Hall on 8th January 2025. Conducted under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), the event aimed to empower local officials, including Block Planning Committee and Panchayat Samiti members, with the tools to enhance panchayat development.
The program was inaugurated by Mr. Raja, Up-Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, Little Andaman. Addressing the participants, Mr. Belthazer, Block Development Officer (BDO), emphasized the importance of the Block Panchayat Development Plan (BPDP) and the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) in fostering sustainable growth at the grassroots level.
Keynote speaker Mr. Mohammed Arif, State Programme Manager, provided an in-depth explanation of the framework for preparing the BPDP. He detailed the steps involved and stressed the need for integrating government schemes to maximise development outcomes.
The event also featured insightful discussions led by experts, including Mr. G. Santosh Kumar, AE (PRI), Mr. G. Venkata Ramana, JE (PRI), and Ms. E. Maheswari, Panchayat Samiti Member. Topics covered included the preparation of GPDP and BPDP, conducting effective Gram Sabhas, and leveraging government-sponsored schemes to address local needs.
The training program was lauded as a significant step toward strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring holistic development across the block.
