Central Crime Station Makes Significant Breakthrough in Drug Bust, Recovers 739 Grams of Methamphetamine

In a major success against the illegal drug trade, the Central Crime Station, CID has apprehended a key individual involved in the possession and distribution of narcotics. The arrest was made during the ongoing investigation of FIR No. 44/2023, registered under Section 22(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The accused, S. Karthick, son of N. Selvam, was taken into custody on 11th July 2023 for the possession of 5.62 grams of Methamphetamine. During his police remand, a thorough interrogation was conducted, leading to the revelation of vital information regarding his close associate. It was uncovered that S. Bala Murugan, son of Mr. Shanta Kumar and aged 23 years, residing in Bambanallah, Sippighat, was closely associated with the apprehended accused.

Both individuals, hailing from the same locality, were found to be actively involved in the illegal drug trade. Further interrogation of S. Bala Murugan at the CCS Police Station yielded crucial information. Acting upon this intelligence, law enforcement authorities conducted a targeted search operation in the vicinity of his residence in the Sippighat area.

During the operation, a substantial amount of narcotics was seized. A team comprising ASI Mohd. Rafique, Head Constable Sanjay Kujur, Sanjit Madhu, Constable K. Rajendran, N. Thangaraj, and Chandran, all from PS CCS, under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (CID) Sh. Piyush Jain, uncovered and confiscated 739 grams of Methamphetamine, categorised as a commercial quantity. The illicit substance was cleverly concealed beneath dried arecanut leaves in a plantation managed by S. Bala Murugan’s family.

Consequently, Mr. S. Bala Murugan has been arrested under Section 22(c)/29 of the NDPS Act for the possession of a commercial quantity of Methamphetamine. This significant seizure underscores the unwavering commitment of the Central Crime Station in its fight against the drug menace plaguing our society. The dismantling of this illicit operation deals a severe blow to the network of drug peddlers operating in the area.
