CEO Holds Crucial Meeting to Discuss Deployment of Security Personnel During Elections in A & N Islands

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, convened a crucial meeting on March 8, 2024, in his chamber, with key officials to strategize the deployment of forces as the electoral process gains momentum.

With the election process already underway, the Election Commission of India, under the leadership of CEO Jaglan, is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring elections that are characterised as free, fair, and ethical. In this pursuit, CEO Jaglan directed the State Police Nodal Officer (SPNO) to formulate a comprehensive deployment plan aimed at providing robust security cover to various stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

During the meeting, CEO Jaglan emphasized the need for the SPNO to meticulously plan for the security of voters, polling personnel, election materials, polling stations, counting centres, and other critical locations. The SPNO was briefed on the intricacies of maintaining law and order during the electoral process, underscoring the significance of their role in ensuring a smooth and secure environment for voters to exercise their franchise.

Key attendees at the meeting included Ms. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, the State Police Nodal Officer; Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer; and Dr. Prashant Kumar, DANICS, the State Nodal Officer responsible for Law & Order, Voter Management, and Security Planning.

The collaborative effort among these officials reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring the safety and security of all participants.
