The Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, recently convened a meeting with the Post Master General, Department of Post, A&N Islands, Col. Arvind Varma, to assess the progress of distributing Elector’s Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) ahead of the General Election to Lok Sabha-2024.
The meeting, held in the Chief Electoral Officer’s chamber at the Secretariat, aimed to ensure that all eligible voters receive their EPICs in a timely manner before the upcoming election. During the discussion, Col. Arvind Varma provided assurances that all EPICs would be distributed by the middle of March 2024, aligning with the electoral timeline.
In addition to reviewing the distribution timeline, Mr. B S Jaglan requested the Postal Department to explore the possibility of extending the BNPL (Book Now Pay Later) facility to North & Middle Andaman & Nicobar Districts. This initiative would facilitate District Election Officers in booking bulk EPICs directly from their districts, expediting the delivery process to electors.
The collaborative efforts between the Chief Electoral Officer’s office and the Postal Department underscore the commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient electoral process for the citizens of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. With the assurance of timely EPIC distribution and potential enhancements in delivery services, voters can anticipate a seamless voting experience in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
