Chief Electoral Officer Visits Campbell Bay to Inspect Preparations for Upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr. B.S Jaglan, IAS, undertook a significant visit to Campbell Bay, the southernmost tehsil of the A&N Islands, on February 27th, 2024. His visit aimed to underscore the critical need for meticulous preparations for the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Jaglan immediately emphasised the importance of seamless electoral processes and convened a meeting at the APWD Guest House. Present at the meeting were Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, Mr. Abhishekh Gulia, the AERO, Campbell Bay, Mr. P.K. Singh, and all Sector Officers of Great Nicobar Island.

During the meeting, the CEO extensively briefed the Sector Officers on their pivotal roles and responsibilities in the impending General Election. Discussions centred on crucial aspects concerning the efficient functioning of polling stations and the safeguarding of electoral integrity.

Mr. P.K. Singh, AERO Campbell Bay, provided insights into the present status of preparedness at Great Nicobar Island for the General Election, 2024. The CEO patiently listened to the concerns and insights shared by the officers, addressing various issues pertaining to the smooth conduct of the election process. He assured to provide all necessary support from the concerned departments to celebrate the General Election as ‘Chunav Ka Parv, Desh Ka Garv’.

Following the meeting, the CEO embarked on a thorough inspection of polling stations and visited two polling stations in Campbell Bay tehsil, reaffirming the readiness of polling stations.

As the nation gears up for the General Election, 2024, the visit of the CEO to the southernmost island of India stands as a testament to the Election Commission of India’s theme of ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’.

Mr. Jaglan’s visit highlights the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring fair, transparent, and efficient electoral processes, even in the remotest parts of the country. With preparations underway, stakeholders are gearing up for a significant electoral event that will shape the democratic future of the nation.
