Chief Electoral Officer Visits Southern Group of Islands to Review Election Preparedness

In anticipation of the forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, embarked on a four-day visit to the Southern group of Islands from February 27 to March 1, 2024, to assess the state of election preparedness.

A crucial meeting was convened on March 1, 2024, chaired by Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, at the District Office Conference Hall in Car Nicobar. The meeting was attended by Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, District Election Officer of Nicobar, along with the Superintendent of Police, Nodal Officers, and Sector Officers designated for election duties.

During the session, Mr. Jaglan briefed the attendees about the pivotal role in conducting elections and outlined the responsibilities of Sector and Nodal Officers for the General Election. Additionally, various issues prevalent in Nicobar were raised by the participants, which garnered attention. Mr. Jaglan assured to address these concerns and pledged full support from the Administration to mitigate them.

Furthermore, Mr. Jaglan embarked on visits to critical Polling Stations in Nicobar to evaluate their readiness for the upcoming elections. He directed different teams and officials to adhere strictly to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to ensure the conduct of free and fair elections.

Mr. Jaglan’s visit and subsequent meetings underscore the earnest efforts undertaken by the electoral authorities to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process in Andaman & Nicobar Islands ahead of the General Elections.
