Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania, Chief Hydrographer to the Government of India and head of the National Hydrographic Office (a Nodal Agency for Hydrographic Surveys, Nautical Charting/Publications and Maritime Safety Services) of the Indian Navy, called on Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, at Raj Niwas on 26th May 2025.
The meeting comes in the wake of the Gazette Notification issued in April 2025 with regard to the Baseline System, which includes the waters surrounding the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
During the interaction, the two officials discussed the emerging potential for developmental projects in the region, particularly in light of the enhanced maritime framework.
The National Hydrographic Office, a nodal agency under the Indian Navy, plays a crucial role in facilitating maritime safety services and supporting infrastructure planning through accurate hydrographic data.
