Chief Secretary Attends New Year Celebration by CRC Organised in Collaboration with PANKH NGO

The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) in A&N Islands witnessed an inspiring and momentous New Year celebration on 8th January 2025, in collaboration with PANKH NGO. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, who served as the chief guest. This gathering exemplified the Administration’s steadfast commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and fostering an inclusive society.

Dr. Kumar, in his address, highlighted the energy and resilience of the Divyangjan, praising their enthusiasm and unique abilities as a beacon of inspiration for a more inclusive community. “Their enthusiasm and unique abilities remind us of the boundless possibilities within each individual,” he emphasized.

The celebration featured an ADIP (Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances) distribution ceremony, during which the Chief Secretary personally distributed aids and appliances to beneficiaries, empowering them to lead more independent lives.

A cultural performance by special children and their parents showcased remarkable talents, while fun games for families added a lively and engaging atmosphere to the celebration.

The programme was also attended by key dignitaries, including Mr. L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary of Social Welfare, and Ms. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, IGP (Narcotics) of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Earlier, Ms. Sumithamol, Director of CRC, A&N Islands, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. The highlight of the celebration was the special acknowledgment of Mrs. Komal Anand, Founder & President of PANKH NGO, Sri Vijaya Puram, whose vision and dedication played a crucial role in making this event possible. PANKH NGO sponsored the entire programme and generously donated a water cooler to CRC, reinforcing their unwavering support for Divyangjan and their families. Swami Suddhananda Saraswati from Chinmaya Mission also graced the event.

The celebration concluded with the Chief Secretary leading the New Year Cake Cutting Ceremony and distributing prizes and gifts to winners of various activities and CwSN, leaving everyone inspired and motivated.

Mr. Jeo Paul, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at CRC, proposed the vote of thanks, rounding off a truly memorable and empowering event.
