Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, on 24th May 2024, flagged off 21 newly procured buses from the premises of the Secretariat. The event was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Transport), Mr. Nikhil Kumar, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Ms. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Secretary of Transport, Mr. Vishwendra, and other senior officers of the A&N Administration.
The newly procured TATA buses aim to improve the transportation facilities for the residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to sources from the Transport Department, the allocation of the buses will be as follows: 4 buses for Diglipur, 3 each for Mayabunder, Rangat, Baratang, Ferrargunj, and Port Blair, and 1 bus each for Car Nicobar and Hutbay STS Units.
This initiative is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance public transport infrastructure and provide better commuting options for the islanders.
