Chief Secretary Inaugurates Sagarika Emporium & Tourist Information Centre in Chennai

The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, inaugurated the newly established Sagarika Emporium and Tourist-cum-Information Centre of the Department of Industries in Chennai on Saturday. The inauguration was attended by senior officials and staff of the Administration, including Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Industries), Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, and Secretary (Industries), Dr. Satyendra Singh Dursawat, IAS.

The new facility has been developed to serve as both a cultural showcase and a trusted information hub for visitors. It will feature a wide range of Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged and One District One Product (ODOP) items, highlighting the craftsmanship and heritage of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

According to officials, the initiative aims to empower local artisans, boost the craft sector, and create a richer experience for tourists by providing authentic products along with reliable travel guidance.

Located at the TTDC Complex, Wallajah Road, Chennai, the centre is expected to play a significant role in connecting tradition with tourism while positioning the Islands as a must-visit destination.

The Department of Industries expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved in bringing the project to fruition and invited both tourists and residents to explore the exclusive offerings at the new centre. (Story Based on PR)
