Chief Secretary Inaugurates Skilling Workshop on Emerging Technologies for Mid-Level Officers

Department of IT and Administrative Reforms & Training Wing of the A&N Administration, with the assistance of M/s Wadhwani Foundation for Digital Transformation, New Delhi, launched a two-day skilling workshop on emerging technologies for mid-level officers from various departments. The event, held at the conference hall of DBRAIT, was inaugurated by Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration.

The inaugural session saw the presence of notable dignitaries including Mr. L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (IT/AR); Ms. Jyothi Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar; Mr. Abhishek Gulia, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay; along with senior officers and officials from various departments. The workshop is being conducted by Mr. Sudhir Agarwal, Director of Wadhwani Centre for Government Digital Transformation, New Delhi, and Mr. Kamal Das, Dean.

In his address, the Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of continuous improvement in service delivery for achieving organisational objectives. He highlighted the workshop’s goal to equip participants with the latest tools and technologies to enhance their work efficiency and achieve excellent outcomes. Drawing a comparison with Japan’s remarkable technological advancements despite its small size, Mr. Chandra stressed the need for regular training programs across government departments to keep pace with rapid technological progress.

“Learning new techniques and innovations will not only enhance service delivery and desired output but also empower individuals by keeping them abreast of the latest technologies. This, in turn, will boost their confidence and ensure they remain at the forefront of progress,” said the Chief Secretary, urging all attendees to make the most of the workshop.

Dr. Utpal Sharma, Special Secretary (IT), welcomed the gathering and outlined the workshop’s objective to sensitise mid-level officers on emerging technologies related to government digital transformation. He noted the increased emphasis on systematic digitalisation over the past two years and expressed confidence that the workshop would identify new areas for implementation.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. A. James, OSD (IT). This was followed by an in-depth session on cutting-edge technologies aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of daily government operations. Approximately 210 officials from various departments are participating in the workshop.

This initiative reflects the A&N Administration’s commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and technological advancement within its workforce, ensuring they remain equipped to meet the challenges of the digital age.

  1. It was great experience to engage with participants of the Administration, especially the interaction levels during sessions and their ideas in group to explore in the world of possibilities by leveraging the technology led disruption transformation. Looking forward to building engagements.
