The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, inaugurated the newly constructed Tourist Information Counter (TIC) at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Sri Vijaya Puram, on November 4, 2025.
Established by the Department of Tourism in a 15-square-metre area provided by the Airports Authority of India, the facility aims to enhance tourist facilitation and convenience for visitors arriving in the Islands.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (IP&T); Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Secretary (IP&T); and Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director (IP&T), along with officials from the Tourism Department and the Airports Authority of India.
The Tourist Information Counter will serve as a one-stop centre offering visitors detailed information on tourist attractions, travel routes, accommodation, and activities across the Islands. By providing immediate assistance and guidance to arriving tourists, the initiative is expected to promote a more welcoming and tourist-friendly environment in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
