In a major step toward digital governance and administrative transparency, the Chief Secretary of A&N Islands, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, virtually launched the Online Land Diversion Module integrated within the Dweep Bhoomi Portal. The new feature aims to simplify and digitise the process of change of land use (CLU), providing island residents with a seamless, transparent, and efficient service experience.
The initiative, developed as part of the ongoing deregulation and compliance reduction exercise under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, seeks to boost ease of doing business and accelerate decision-making across government departments in the Islands.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar emphasized the transformative potential of the new system in public service delivery. “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to improving service delivery through technology. The services will empower citizens by providing easy access to land diversion services, eliminating the need for physical visits, and saving valuable time and resources,” he remarked.
The Online Land Diversion Module has been designed to streamline the process for change of land use by providing a comprehensive list of required documents, enabling online submission of applications, and offering a one-stop digital platform for citizens to track and manage their requests. The system reflects the Administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient governance and enhancing ease of living for the residents of the Union Territory.
Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), South Andaman District, the portal represents a key milestone in the Administration’s efforts to expand digital services and improve public access to government processes.
