Chief Secretary Leads Tree Plantation Drive at Swaraj Dweep on World Environment Day

In observance of World Environment Day 2025, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, led a series of impactful environmental activities at Swaraj Dweep, aligning with this year’s global theme — “Ending Plastic Pollution – #BeatPlasticPollution.”

The Chief Secretary spearheaded a tree plantation drive at the iconic Radhanagar Beach and the premises of Dolphin Resort, symbolizing the Administration’s strong commitment to sustainable development and ecological conservation.

Addressing participants, Dr. Kumar underscored the pressing need to tackle the growing menace of plastic pollution. He encouraged collective responsibility and greater public participation in environmental protection efforts.

Complementing the main event, the Swaraj Dweep Forest Division organized a range of awareness activities, including a rally, cleanliness drives, mangrove plantation, tidal walk, nature trail, and bird-watching sessions. These initiatives aimed to foster environmental consciousness among residents and visitors while celebrating the natural heritage of the island.
