In a significant step towards promoting the fisheries and aquaculture sector, the Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration launched the first edition of its e-Magazine, titled ‘Matsya Drishti’. The magazine was officially released by Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, during a ceremony held in the Conference Hall of the Secretariat.
The launch event was attended by senior officers of the A&N Administration, who gathered to celebrate the Department of Fisheries’ efforts in producing a publication that highlights the region’s developmental strides in fisheries and aquaculture. Mr. Chandra praised the department for creating a comprehensive resource that showcases the administration’s initiatives aimed at bolstering the sector.
‘Matsya Drishti’ documents progress on various strategic verticals within the fisheries sector, aimed at enhancing seafood exports from the islands. It features detailed coverage of major initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and micro-financing through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) for various stakeholders. The magazine also explores recent developments in commercial shrimp farming, the promotion of domestic fish marketing, and various extension and upskilling activities. Additionally, it provides an array of facts and figures related to the fisheries sector.
The publication aims to showcase the advancements and opportunities within the sector to attract investors interested in commercial fisheries activities, particularly in aquaculture, deep-sea fishing, and post-harvest management.
For the convenience of readers, ‘Matsya Drishti’ is accessible on the official website of the A&N Administration (https://www.andaman.gov.in) as well as the Department of Fisheries’ website. This ensures that stakeholders and interested parties can easily access the latest information and developments in the islands’ fisheries sector.
