CIFNET Invites Applications for Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter Courses for 2025–2027 Batch

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET), under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has announced admissions for its Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC) for the academic session 2025–2027. The institute, with campuses in Kochi, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam, offers these specialized career training programs aimed at building skilled manpower for the marine and fisheries sector.

The two-year training programs are conducted under the Craftsman Training Scheme of the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), initiated by the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India.

Candidates who have passed Class 10 (SSLC) with a minimum of 40% marks in Mathematics and Science separately are eligible to apply. All selected trainees will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,500. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates may be eligible for post-institutional training based on merit, which comes with a stipend of ₹20,500 per month and a one-time uniform allowance, subject to the signing of a bond by the applicant and their parent.

As per the reservation policy, a total of 24 seats (12 each for VNC and MFC) are reserved for wards of fishermen, who will be nominated through the Commissioner/Director of Fisheries of the respective states. These seats will be filled without an entrance examination.

Interested candidates from the fishermen community in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may submit their duly filled application forms to the Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill, by 14th June 2025.
