The District Administration of South Andaman, in collaboration with Civil Defence Forces and Emergency Support Functionaries of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, will conduct a Civil Defence Exercise on May 7, 2025, at 4:00 PM. The drill aims to assess and enhance the region’s civil defence preparedness and response capabilities.

Authorities have emphasized that this is a pre-planned mock exercise, and there is no real threat to public safety. Residents and business establishments across South Andaman are advised to remain calm and continue with their daily activities as usual.

As part of the drill, siren systems installed in various parts of the district may be activated briefly. These sirens are a routine element of the exercise and should not be a cause for alarm.

The District Administration has urged the public not to be disturbed by any unusual sights or sounds during the exercise. All activities will be conducted in a controlled and supervised environment, led by trained personnel and emergency coordinators.

Highlighting the importance of community participation, officials stated that such exercises are crucial for building a resilient and disaster-ready society. Public cooperation and support are key to the success of the initiative.

For further information or media inquiries, the public can contact helpline numbers 112, 1070, or 1077. (Story Based on PR)
