In a concerted effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene within government offices and local communities, the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman District, Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, spearheaded an extensive cleanliness drive on June 1, 2024.
The initiative, led by Mr. Meena, saw the active participation of officers and staff from the Revenue Department, who collectively worked towards creating a clean and healthy environment within the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, AC Offices, Tehsil Offices, and other government premises.
As part of the drive, a field visit was organized to Pahalgaon and Chainpur Gram Panchayats to evaluate the progress of the Swachh Panchayat Abhiyan, an initiative aimed at enhancing cleanliness and sanitation within local panchayats.
Accompanied by officials from various departments including APWD and PRI, as well as local leaders such as the Pradhan and Panchayat Secretary, Mr. Meena conducted a comprehensive review of the sanitation projects under the Swachh Panchayat Abhiyan. The visit emphasized the importance of community participation and sustainability in maintaining cleanliness standards.
During interactions with local residents, Mr. Meena underscored the significance of maintaining high hygiene standards and encouraged active community involvement in the cleanliness drive. The Pradhan and Panchayat Secretary provided insights into the progress and challenges of the Swachh Panchayat Abhiyan, while officials from Revenue and APWD Departments discussed ongoing infrastructure developments and future plans to support cleanliness initiatives.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress observed during the visit, Mr. Meena reiterated the Administration’s commitment to supporting the Swachh Panchayat Abhiyan. He emphasized the need for continued efforts and collaboration among all stakeholders to achieve the mission’s objectives effectively.
In conclusion, Mr. Meena commended the efforts of the Panchayat members, officials, and the community, urging them to sustain the momentum and make the Swachh Panchayat Abhiyan a long-term movement towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
