Coconut Development Board Conducts Technical Enrichment Programmes for Agriculture Officials

The Coconut Development Board, State Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram, organized a ‘Technical Enrichment Programme’ for officials of the Department of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The programme was held in two phases — on November 18 at the Agriculture Department’s Conference Hall, South Andaman, and on November 20 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nimbudera for North & Middle Andaman.

The South Andaman programme was inaugurated by Ms. Rekha, Joint Director of Agriculture, South Andaman. During the session, Ms. Jayashree A., Deputy Director, Regional Office, Coimbatore, elaborated on the Coconut Development Board’s schemes and new operational guidelines. A technical session was conducted by Dr. Ajit Arun Waman, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIARI.

The subsequent programme at KVK, Nimbudera was inaugurated by Ms. Shirley Thomas, Joint Director of Agriculture, North & Middle Andaman. Participants were briefed on the Board’s schemes and updated guidelines by the Deputy Director, Regional Office, Coimbatore. Technical sessions were delivered by Mr. Yathrat Sharma, SMS, and Mr. Rakesh Dawar, SMS, KVK Nimbudera.

A total of 60 field-level officials from the Agriculture Department benefitted from the training programmes aimed at enhancing technical knowledge and strengthening coconut cultivation initiatives across the Islands. (Story Based on PR)
