A series of inter-college competitions, including elocution, essay writing, drawing/poster making, and slogan writing, were held at Andaman Law College on Saturday. The events were sponsored by the Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. and Andaman Harbour Works.

A total of 65 students participated in the competitions, which aimed to encourage awareness and discussion on the role of youth in building a corruption-free and progressive India. The elocution competition was held on the topic “Role of Youth in Fighting Against Corruption—Threat to Democracy,” while the essay writing competition focused on “Shared Responsibility of the Youth for Viksit Bharat-2047.” The same themes were extended to the poster and slogan writing contests.

Inaugurating the event, the Principal of the College, Dr. P.V. Nagendra Sarma, urged students to raise their voices against corruption, describing it as “a menace eating into the vitals of democracy.” Event Coordinator Ms. Nisha Sikdar, Assistant Professor of English, briefed the participants on the rules and guidelines. The Faculty of Law and Humanities conducted and judged the competitions.

Ms. Ambilisree, Manager, Shipping Corporation of India, and Mr. Subrata Bala, Vigilance Officer, Andaman Harbour Works, attended the event. The winners will be felicitated with prizes and mementos during a seminar on “Vigilance: A Shared Responsibility” scheduled for November 1, to be organized by All India Radio, Sri Vijaya Puram, as part of Vigilance Awareness Week.
